Our founder, Randal Southam, smelled opportunity. Working in sales in the commercial print industry in the late 80s, he recognized the impact computers and ‘desktop publishing’ were going to have on the industry. He quit his job, borrowed $30,000, partnered with a new company in Seattle, Aldus (PageMaker), and launched LaserDesktop on Lower Queen Anne in Seattle in 1988. Always recognizing the importance of relationships and alliances, Randal partnered the company with A&A Printing in Seattle in a relationship that benefitted both companies. Within three years, the market was innundated with pre-press companies and it was time to find the next opportunity in the market. The company sold its customer base to A&A printing in 1991.
