As LaserDesktop battled in a saturated market, unable to delineate a true competitive advantage, a bright spot emerged as the company had unwittingly created a niche in the management of customer mailing lists, and our next company, Sales Information Systems (SIS) was launched.  Customer databases had to be managed monthly and kept up-to-date to reduce waste in direct mail campaigns.  The job was made easier as software evolved, ‘contact management’ as a service became viable, and little did we know that ‘contact management’ would become known a decade later as Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and would play an important role in our company by 2004.  But in 1994, we partnered with Contact Software International and became Certified Partners with their flagship application Act!.
